Hello,
I started putting together this database because I'm a shareware author and
couldn't seem to find reliable sources of distributors.
I got to thinking,"Other people, both shareware authors and customers.
need a good, reliable source of distribution companies." ... hence, the
SHAREDAT package was born.
What I've done (in SHAREDAT.DAT) is provide a data file that is RETURN
delimited of 15 fields each. They are arranged in this order:
RECORD FIELDS
1. COMPANY_NAME
2. DEPARTMENT
3. CONTACT_FIRST_NAME
4. CONTACT_LAST_NAME
5. SALUTATION
6. TITLE
7. MAIL_ADDRESS
8. CITY
9. STATE
10. ZIP
11. COUNTRY
12. PHONE_VOICE
13. PHONE_FAX
14. PHONE_BBS
15. REMARKS
In order to make the data more generically useful I've included those
shareware distributors that have software for APPLE, AMIGA, COMMODORE, MAC,
etc. These are noted in the REMARKS field.
The database contains close to 400 shareware distributor records (at the
time of this writing). I update the database regularly ... almost on a
daily basis ... if you send in a registration of $15.00, I'll send you a
360k DSDD diskette containing the entire file. Each record is a company
that distributes shareware. Many of the records have data in the REMARKS
field reflecting where they adverise, whether they specialize in ADULT
software, CD-ROMs, WINDOWS software, etc.
In addition I'll even send you a disk containing the records in an ASCII
comma delimited format if you ask when you register.
RECORD FIELDS:
COMPANY_NAME,DEPARTMENT,CONTACT_FIRST_NAME,etc.... (Empty spaces removed....)
So, there isn't a whole lot more to say ... oh yes, the lines aren't long
enough to cause wrap problems with word processors. That means you don't
have to use a database program if you don't want. Just import the file,
SHAREDAT.DAT into your word processor and do block copying....
As I said before, I'm a shareware author. The programs I have available
follow:
T-FIG:
T-FIG is perhaps my most significant program. It is for those, like
myself, who find Telix to be the *BEST*, yet most formidable
telecommunications program available.
T-FIG is an interactive tutorial intended for use with the Telix comm
program. It runs just like a script from within Telix. T-FIG reads
the present configuration of TELIX and displays it in a textual
format. You can make a dynamic configuration change and T-FIG will
pick it up and display the new configuration.
T-FIG is designed with the beginner in mind. It allows the new
TELIX user to have easy access to the configuration information
needed to make TELIX more easily used. It's not necessary to
remember any commands to use T-FIG ... it's completely automatic.
In many cases the information you need for the most widely used
applications are explained in T-FIG. Section 5: TIPS and HINTS
contains stuff that causes most new users problems. If you have a
particular problem, it's most likely here. If not, use the on-line
documentation.
The on-line documentation that comes with T-FIG is extensive, inluding:
1. A Telix User's Manual
2. A SALT Progrmming Guide
3. A Telecommunications Primer
3. The T-FIG User Manual
In addition, registered users will received a Comprehensive Cyclopedic
HyperJump Index. This index catalogs virtually every significant word,
concept, and idea in all the on-line documentation alphabetically. It has
over 1,500 entries! When a user finds what they're looking for, they
can make a HyperJump directly to the spot in the file where the information
is located!
Also, two new and useful features of T-FIG are SHELL and LOG.
1. Users can now shell to DOS while T-FIG is running.
2. Users can command T-FIG to write a log of Telix configuration to a
floppy disk in drive A.
Registration: $25.00.
SHAREDAT:
This one!
LAPWRKS:
LAPWRKS is a group of programs I put together to make working on a
laptop computer more productive. The registration fee is $25.00.
The programs are:
1. LAP. This is a very small comm program that allows you to transfer
files from your desktop computer to your laptop computer, or vice
versa. It is both fast and effective. It starts transfers at
115,200 bps ... if a problem transferring the file at that speed is
encountered, it drops to 57,600 bps ... and steps on down to 9,600
bps if necessary to transfer the file error-free. Registration
brings the program, and all documentation, on both 360k DSDD 5.25"
and 720k DSDD 3.25" diskettes.
2. SHOWCAPS. This is a small Terminate ans Stay Resident (TSR) program
that changes your monitor's cursor into a block when the CapsLock key
is pressed. More than letting you know when the CapsLock key is
engaged, it is very handy for finding that ever elusive cursor!
3. STICKY. This is also a TSR program, and one very handy to have in
available. It "remembers" whenever you press a key usually
associated with two key combinations such as Ctrl-(any key),
Alt-(any key), and Shift-(any key). It also works with
Ctrl-Alt-Del whenever you need to warm boot your computer. It's
great for one finger typists!
PROPAK:
PROPACK is both an electronic keyboard ProComm+ template and on on-line
hypertext telecommunications primer. Both 1200 baud and 2400 baud Hayes
compatible command (AT) set are presented. The temple describes virtually
all of the keystokes you need to know to use ProComm+. It's like having a
user's manual on your computer. Registration: $15.00.
